…Because the combination of daily yoga, sunshine, rest, delicious healthy food, good company and beautiful surroundings is a winner, trust me!!  Daily yoga, when at home, will certainly enhance your physical and mental wellbeing, but there is the inevitable rush to get to work, or your next appointment, or a meeting straight afterwards…cutting short the small oasis of calm you’ve created. Holidays in the sun can be a wonderful, restful escape, but too much inactivity, good food and drinks in the sun can leave us feeling sluggish and in need of another break!

On a yoga retreat you get to relax, rest, enjoy peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings, eat sumptuous meals, go exploring, go to the beach.. all the things you normally do on holiday but with the addition of daily yoga. Each morning begins with a yoga session which will calm your mind and energise your body, with no pressure to do anything else afterwards except sit down to a amazing breakfast which has been prepared for you. A week of this will leave you feeling not only rested, but glowing, healthy and happy!  The first time I went on a yoga retreat was also in Greece, 17 years ago. It had such a positive effect that virtually every holiday I’ve taken since has been a yoga holiday!

This will be the third year in a row that Lauren and I have joined forces to create a retreat. We are both highly experienced ashtanga teachers, authorised through the Krishna Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute in Mysore, India. With both of us  present all levels of students, from absolute beginners to more advanced, will receive plenty of attention and detailed instruction. We take our yoga seriously but our aim is for the retreats to be lighthearted and full of fun – the emphasis is primarily on relaxing and enjoying the holiday!!

more about Lauren:

I can’t recommend a retreat with Cathy and Lauren enough, they created a supportive and encouraging environment to practice, I learnt so much from them and had fun too!” Isla Kate Morris

” Being introduced to daily Mysore style practice meant lots of adjustments, deeper postures and the evening workshops aided knowledge and technique further. The location was well chosen with wonderful relaxing surrounding and a daily prepared vegan menu to fuel our next practice! The perfect escape from a busy life in the city!” Lisa Lawson

“Everything about this week was fantastic from the location to the sunshine to the delicious veggie food! . I especially enjoyed delving into the yoga philosophy and the afternoon workshops which helped me to finely tune a broad range of aspects of my ashtanga yoga practice.”Kirsty Nicholl

“ It was an idyllic setting to deepen my yoga practice in a friendly and supportive environment, but above all, it was great fun. I am definitely booked on the next retreat in Morocco.”

I loved this yoga retreat. Great teaching, great healthy food and great company. Cathy and Lauren’s teaching was caring, comprehensive and dignified . As a complete Ashtanga beginner I was fully accommodated with the retreat providing a perfect springboard into regular Ashtanga practice .A refreshing, invigorating and balanced retreat experience which I throughly enjoyed.” Caroline McLean

“I had a wonderful retreat with  Cathy and Lauren in Italy last year. They are both fantastic teachers with lots of knowledge and experience and work well together teaching the Ashtanga Yoga Method.  Our group had a range of different levels from beginners to established practitioners, and everyone got lots of hands on teaching. “  Mandy

Urania Villas, Lefkada

Our retreat this year will be held in the most stunning location, Urania Villas on the Greek Island of Lefkada.  Your accommodation will be spread across three villas each with their own pool and spectacular views over the Ionian Sea. Food will be vegetarian and made from the most delicious local Mediterranean produce – think watermelon, figs, feta cheese, olive oil…and. we will gather together for meals at one of the villas.  Morning Mysore and afternoon workshops will be held in the ‘yoga pavilion’ – also with the same breathtaking views!! The rest of the time is free for you to do as you please – you can relax by the pool, take a hike down to the private beach below the villas, or explore the island.
