For our 2021 retreat Lauren and I have chosen a venue in Portugal, one hour north of Lisbon.

Originally planned for September 2020 this retreat has been moved forward to September 2021 due to the Covid 19 situation. 

What goes on…?


You will receive individual attention, practising in a small group of no more than ten, and will take away many actionable tips to develop your physical practice. We will also dive into yoga philosophy, giving meaning and an understanding to why we do what we do and our afternoons will be spent in the deep relaxation of yoga nidra. Plus if you’re feeling more energetic you have the opportunity to take surfing lessons with the Maverick’s qualified surf instructors, take a tour or the local area, or try horse-riding.

By the end of the week you will be fully refreshed and re-focused.

If you’re a beginner you’ll receive a personalised one to one introduction to Ashtanga Yoga and will get to know other friendly Ashtanga practitioners!

The Accommodation

We’ve hired one of the brand new luxurious Villas at the Maverick surf resort. The Villa is self contained with its own pool and garden, located in the countryside quietness, featuring great views, and space to relax.  Meals will be prepared at the Villa by our own chef and served at the pool-side dining table. The closest beach is Praia da Areia Branca, a small summer beach town with lots of cafés, bars and restaurants. It’s close to scenic beaches, surf spots and places of cultural interest. A free daily beach shuttle is offered by the resort.

We’ll practice in the resort’s purpose built yoga shala and relaxation time can be spent at the beach, swimming pool or for the more energetic surfing or horse riding, and even wine tasting!

  • 7 nights of accommodation

  • Delicious vegetarian or vegan brunch, dinner and snacks. All cooked at the Villa by an on-site chef using locally-sourced ingredients. One evening the chef will take the evening off and there’ll be an option to dine out as a group.

  • 6 morning Mysore Classes with a beginners’ intro for those new to yoga

  • 4 afternoon workshops including practice technique, yoga philosophy, and Yoga Nidra

  • Plenty of free time to kick back and relax by the pool; take the free shuttle to the beach.

The Villa is located approximately 1 hour north of Lisbon and 15 minutes south of Peniche. Transfers from Lisbon airport can be arranged on request.

“the yoga retreat in italy with lauren and cathy exceeded my expectations. we had morning yoga sessions, divided into those with a regular mysore practice and beginners. we had workshops in the afternoons, focusing on some yoga philosophy and specific areas of practice, such as back bends. we stayed at an organic farm with delicious healthy food and a lovely swimming pool for relaxation. we had free time to explore lecce for dinner and a day at the beach in otranto. it was an idyllic setting to deepen my yoga practice in a friendly and supportive environment, but above all, it was great fun. i am definitely booked on the next retreat in morocco.”
