In advance of my upcoming retreat in Italy I am offering two impromptu workshops at the Yoga Hut next weekend to test out the format of these. I’d love to get your input and it’s also a good opportunity to focus on specific aspects of your practice.
The workshops will focus on the foundations of practice and backbending.
I’m offering a reduced workshop rate of £20 per workshop or a bundle price of £35 for both. Book both workshops.

Foundations of Practice Workshop (Saturday, 10th September 2016, 15:30 -17:30)
Sthira-sukham asanam (Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras II.46)
‘Posture should be steady and comfortable’
In this workshop we will explore the importance of foundation (steadiness) to create length, space, and ease (comfort) in every posture.
Just as a tree with strong roots grows healthy and tall, by cultivating our roots our asana practice will flourish.
Postures revolve around pairs of opposites (grounding/ lengthening, strength/softness, drawing back/reaching forward). Striking the perfect balance between the two, by staying connected to our centre, allows us to find freedom and grace in every posture.
We will look at how to establish and train our foundation, through various postures within the standing, sitting and finishing sequences of the primary series.

Backbending Workshop (Sunday, 11th September 2016, 14:00 – 16:00)
A workshop to give participants a deeper understanding of the benefits and mechanics of back bending so they can incorporate this knowledge into their daily asana practice.
Through an exploration of different types of backbends, we will look at various restrictions that may be preventing us from opening the front of the body and finding ease in the postures. We will then work on ways to overcome these restrictions, leading towards freedom and success in postures like urdhva dhanurasana and beyond!!
