Ashtanga Yoga for Beginners – Weekend Yoga Workshop

A two part introduction to Ashtanga Yoga. Learn the fundamental techniques and theory underpinning the practice of Ashtanga Yoga.

A yoga workshop for beginners, covering a broad overview of traditional ashtanga yoga (the sequence, its origins, the methodology,) whilst honing in on the basics of breath and synchronised movement that constitute the ashtanga yoga sequences.
We will break the essential postures down into easy to learn sections and spend time getting to grips with the breathing technique, and on completion of the 2 sessions you’ll leave feeling confident to move on to our other classes

Yin Yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga that focuses on holding poses for longer periods of time, typically 3-5 minutes or more. The practice emphasises relaxation and deep stretching of the connective tissues in the body. Benefits include improved flexibility, increased circulation, reduced stress and anxiety, and improved joint mobility.  The slower pace of this practice makes it a perfect yoga for beginners, as modified variations of each pose are offered to suit everyone.

I got into Ashtanga after trying out different forms of yoga. Following on from the beginner’s course with Cathy I went on to try Mysore and became hooked. Ashtanga is a strong and often challenging practice but with regular practice and the invaluable knowledge and friendly encouragement from Cathy, slowly but surely I made progress, and after 3 years I still am! There are all different levels of students in the class which helps with motivation and inspiration. I love the energy that comes from the Mysore classes. What better way to start your day!
