Our next 10 week beginners Ashtanga Yoga course starts Wednesday, 14th June.

Ashtanga yoga is an intense, flowing style of yoga in which the same poses are always done in the same order.

It is suitable for all levels of fitness and for complete beginners to yoga.

Benefits of Ashtanga Yoga

The system is designed to therapeutically realign and detoxify the body. Inner body heat is produced during the practice through special breathing with sound. This, combined with two important internal body locks (bandhas), induces sweating. Toxins are eliminated from the body and the nervous system is purified. It’s also leaves you feeling more calm and energetic. The regular practice of Ashtanga Yoga increases flexibility, strength and balance.

What the course will cover:

The ashtanga for beginners’ course runs in two 5 week blocks.

  • In the first block we start from scratch and take you systematically through the techniques and sequence of the Ashtanga Primary series, beginning with sun salutations.
  • The second block is about building on and maintaining what was learnt in the first 5 weeks.

The series builds sequentially in terms of flexibility and strength in order prepare you for some of the gateway postures in the practice.

Course details:

The course will be taught by Cathy Moran, the owner of Ashtanga Yoga Glasgow. Cathy holds a KPJAYI level 2 authorization to teach the primary and intermediate series.

The course starts on Wednesday 14th June, and will take place each Wednesday at 18:00 – 19:15 at The Movement Studio, 4 Ashton Lane Glasgow G12 8SJ.

Buy a 5 or 10 class pass here or book each class on the timetable. If you have any questions about the course then feel free to get in touch by emailing me morancath@gmail.com

I enrolled in the 6 week beginner class having never practiced any sort of yoga before, a complete beginner. Cathy is extremely patient and encouraging, helping you progress at your own pace. I couldn’t recommend this course enough!
